Joy Metoyer joined Lilliput Children’s Services in December of 2004. She has a long-term history of concentration and focus on racial and cultural issues dating from her undergraduate work of four years in African American Studies, to community-oriented projects and related internships. Joy received a BA in Fine Art in 1993 and used her creative abilities to speak to the social conditions related to the African American population. To combine her developing interests in culture and psychology, and more directly serve marginalized and oppressed populations, she decided to pursue a Masters in Social Work, which she received in May of 2004. Working with relative caregivers and foster parents of children who have entered the foster care system has facilitated the pursuit of that goal. Since her employment with Lilliput, Joy has been involved in
facilitating certification courses for pre-adoptive parents and co-facilitated
at The North American Council on Adoptable Children (NACAC) on Transracial
Adoption. |
